Our Story

For more than four decades, Highland Manor Inn has been a welcoming home base for travelers exploring the quiet beauty of Townsend, Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains. Built with care and dedication in 1982 by owners Don and Sandy, the inn began as a family dream—and has remained a labor of love ever since.

What started as a vision to create a self-run business near the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park has grown into a long-standing tradition of warm hospitality, comfort, and personal service. From the beginning, the goal was simple: provide a peaceful place to stay where guests feel genuinely welcome, relaxed, and well cared for.

Our Story

Today, more than 44 years later, that vision continues to thrive. The Highland Manor Inn offers clean, comfortable accommodations and welcoming gathering spaces, all supported by the personal attention that only a family-operated inn can provide. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all walks of life—families, couples, outdoor enthusiasts, and returning visitors who make our inn part of their Smoky Mountains tradition.

For us, this is more than just a place to stay.
It’s a lifestyle, a legacy, and a joy we’re proud to share.

We invite you to experience the peaceful side of the Smokies and see why so many guests return year after year—allowing us to be part of the memories that bring them back to Townsend time and again.
